His mother, Elaine Elizabeth (née Artingstall), was a telephone operator, and his father, Sanford William Feig, owned Ark Surplus on Gratiot Avenue. Paul Feig moved to Los Angeles and transferred to the University of Southern California after a year at Wayne State University.
