Kirstie Mary Allsopp was born on August 31, 1971 (age 50 years) in Hampstead, London, United Kingdom. She is the daughter of Charles Allsopp, 6th Baron Hindlip, a former chairman of Christie’s, by his marriage to Fiona Victoria Jean Atherley McGowan (1947–2014).
She has a younger brother, Henry Allsopp, and two younger sisters, Sofie Allsopp and Natasha Allsopp. Owing to her father’s peerage, she is entitled to use the courtesy style of The Honourable Kirstie Allsopp. The designer and businesswoman Cath Kidston is her cousin.
Kristie attended ten schools as a child, including St Clotilde’s in Lechlade, Gloucestershire, and Bedales near Petersfield, Hampshire.
Career
Kristie Allsopp spent some time in India teaching English, she returned to the UK and began a series of positions, working for Country Living and Food & Homes Magazine and her mother’s business, Hindlip & Prentice Interiors, and studying at Christie’s. Allsopp set up her own home search company, Kirmir, in 1996, focusing on top-end purchases in Central and West London.
Allsopp was reported in 2008 and 2009 to be an advisor to the Conservative Party on housing matters but has denied this. In August 2014, Allsopp was one of 200 public figures who were signatories to a letter to The Guardian opposing Scottish independence in the run-up to September’s referendum on that issue.
In 2016 Allsopp voted Leave in the Referendum to leave the European Union. In October 2021 she posted on her Twitter account, without irony, that she had run out of petrol and was forced to abandon her car short of her destination. No local suppliers could offer fuel to purchase due to the UK “petrol crisis”.

In 2009 Kirstie and her spouse Andersen along with another family bought and restored a house in rural Devon called Meadowgate, which had been empty for 39 years. The restoration and interior decorating were the subject of the TV series Kirstie’s Homemade Home. It was again the setting for her Kirstie’s Homemade Christmas programme, showing people how to have an individual Christmas using secondhand and homemade products such as wreaths from material found from a nearby wood.

In 2014, Allsopp revealed to The Times that her mother, who died on 6 January aged 66 from breast cancer, had been buried, at her own request, in a wicker coffin, in the garden of her Dorset home.
Controversies
Kirstie Allsopp come under fire in October 2021 as people claimed her lockdown Sarah Everard tweet was “insensitive”. Former police officer Wayne Couzens will spend the rest of his life in jail after he kidnapped, raped and murdered a 33-year-old marketing executive.
He used his police warrant card, handcuffs and knowledge of Covid laws to stage a fake arrest and snatch Ms Everard from the streets of London.
Allsopp faced criticism after she said lockdowns should never be imposed in the wake of the tragedy in response to Jeremy Vine’s tweet.
Mr Jeremy Vine said: “As a father of 2 teenage girls I have absolutely no idea how to impress on them that a policeman who stops them may be doing so on false pretences; may handcuff them unlawfully; may murder them for his own satisfaction. What do I say to help keep them safe — avoid the police?”
