Jérôme Dupras is a Canadian ecologist, researcher, professor, and musician. He is the bassist of the Quebec group Les Cowboys Fringants.

Dupras was born on November 3, 1979 (age 44 years) in Montreal, Canada. He is the son of Candian parents. His father is a farm veterinarian and double bassist.

He studied at the University of Montreal. There he completed a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry (2002) as well as a master’s degree (2008) and a doctorate in geography (2014).

His doctoral thesis, entitled The Economic Valuation of Ecosystem Services in the Montreal Region: Spatial Analysis and Expressed Preferences, earned him the Gold Medal of the Governor General of Canada.

He subsequently completed a postdoctoral internship in the Department of Biology at McGill University.

Jérôme Dupras is a professor in the natural sciences department of the Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO) and a researcher at the Institute of Temperate Forest Sciences. In 2019, he managed a laboratory of around twenty people.

He also exercises “chosen activism” on environmental subjects, as a scientist. His remarkable career achievements have earned him some luxurious lifestyles and some fancy car trips.
