Bitcoins: Man Begs State Authorities to Dig waste dump to retrieve a hard drive which allegedly contains £210m

bitcoins, man begs

James Howells had 7,500 bitcoins, a virtual currency, on the hard drive, which he mistakenly threw away in 2013.
He said he was willing to donate 25% of the value of the bitcoins to his home city of Newport in south Wales – about £52.5m – if he found the hard drive.

He bought the bitcoin in 2009 but in 2013 he was forced to throw away his laptop which contained the hard drive the bitcoin transaction was stored on because tea had spilled on the machine making it inefficient.
It was months after it was thrown away he remembered there was a value like that on it.
Since 2013 he has tried to get permission from city authorities to go dig the dump site but they always turn down his request.

Newport council said excavation was not possible under its licensing permit.
