Anika Shay Wells was born on August 11, 1985 (age 36 years) in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Her father was an accountant who was born in Melbourne and her mother was an administrator who was born in New Zealand. As a result, Wells held New Zealand citizenship by descent until February 2018, when she renounced it to stand for parliament.
