Maart enjoys Kaizer Chiefs life but seeks individual and team progress

Even if there is always potential for individual and team growth, Yusuf Maart is happy with his smooth integration into Kaizer Chiefs.

Maart is a product created by the Orlando Pirates. But since the first team was so good, he was unable to make his club’s senior debut.

In 2018, he was also loaned out to Cape Umoya United, a defunct second division team that was led by Roger De Sa, a former Pirates commander in chief.

He rejoined Pirates for the 2019–2020 campaign, but was judged surplus and moved on to rookies Sekhukhune United.

In his debut season, Maart shined at Babina Noko, becoming himself captain in the process. He also grabbed the attention of Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos.

As a result of his ability to adapt into new coach Arthur Zwane’s rebuilding plans, he was rewarded with a transfer to the Chiefs ahead of the new season.

Maart’s time with Amakhosi has gotten off to a good start; he has missed only two games since joining the team because of a red card he earned against Richards Bay.

“This has been a terrific beginning for me. Any system must be adapted to in football. I like the system the Chiefs are using. And I immediately adjusted,” he remarked.

Maart was criticised by the crowd despite being a regular because of his unique contributions. But he’s taken the criticism in stride.

Since you work hard and they are aware of your skill, they will be critical of you when you make a mistake, according to Maart.

They are aware of your abilities. And they wish you the best as your supporters. I am aware of it sometimes (particularly when representing a team like Chiefs).

The rebuilding process for the Chiefs hasn’t gone as expected. After a wild start, they are now in the bottom part of the rankings.

As a result, some of their fans have already demanded Zwane’s resignation because they believe he cannot manage the strain of his position.

Maart advises them to work to become better in each and every game they play moving ahead since they are aware that as a team they haven’t been at their best.

“The league is young, and everyone is still trying to establish their footing. We’ll succeed in our goals, he assured.

“You can’t play in fear and terror as a football player. If you play out of fear, you won’t have fun or succeed in your goals. But we are making progress.

“We’ll eventually get off to the correct start, and once we do, we’ll proceed to take the necessary action. But thus far, the crew has been in a nice attitude, he said.

Maart and company will be keen to reverse their fortunes when they face SuperSport United at FNB Stadium on Saturday after two straight draws.

SuperSport, in contrast to Chiefs, have won back-to-back league matches. But does that worry Maart before their tonight’s matchup?

They are cooperating and getting their bearings. They should respect our team, but because it’s a home game, we’ll take the necessary action, stated Maart.
